A few weeks ago we asked 3x World Champion Mick Fanning if he wanted to come to Portugal. Commentate a few heats at the Meo Rip Curl Pro Portugal, join in on some freesurfs and maybe eat a few Portuguese tarts. He said that sounded pretty nice, so he jumped on a plane.
The plan was to show the event through the eyes of Mick Fanning - his interactions, his thoughts, his experience in Portugal and at the event. Per normal, the plan didn't exactly go... to plan.
It was even better. Mick's time in Portugal exceeded expectations, and his thoughts on the World Title race and the surfers who are vying for the trophy offered a unique insight that the surfing world has never had before.
