Rip Curl Walks Towards Reconciliation.
Rip Curl is proud to announce that its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has received the official tick of approval from Reconciliation Australia.
Our RAP is a formal commitment to reconciliation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, allowing Rip Curl to join a network of more than 1,100 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made this same commitment.
There are four types of RAP - Reflect, Innovate, Stretch, and Elevate – which are designed to help organizations continuously develop and strengthen their reconciliation commitments. Through this Reflect RAP, Rip Curl’s aim is to learn and mature through our reconciliation journey, with the RAP providing an ongoing framework for future RAP’s and reconciliation initiatives.
Our CEO, Brooke Farris, expressed her pride in receiving Reconciliation Australia’s formal endorsement, highlighting how significant of a step forward this is for the brand’s connection to country and emphasizing Rip Curl’s commitment to taking meaningful action, focusing on recognition, respect, and relationships, as we grow our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Alongside Rip Curl’s RAP, an incredible illustration has been created of Djarrak, Bells Beach, the birthplace of the Rip Curl brand. Painted by Gerard Black, proud Worimi man, this serves as a powerful symbol of Rip Curl’s commitment to reconciliation and its respect for the Traditional Owners of the land.
Rip Curl acknowledges the First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land, the oceans, and communities in which we Search. We pay our respect to their elders, past, present, and emerging.
This is a notable step forward for Rip Curl; strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and promoting positive change and awareness.
